The Brick

I’ve been dreaming a lot lately
Swimmingly in fact
Round and full dreams
Plump as rain forest dew

Hanging around waiting for the wind
A weighty bird to knock me from my leaf
Sending out splendid light as the sun shines through me

I watch other’s splash in jazzamatazz
Breaking form
Syncopating
Erupting wherever they land

Pitter patter…
Pitter patter…
Ka tunk… plop…
Splish…

The sun is warm
The leaf moist and neighbourless
Baited on the end of a hook

The cement mixer fires up
Boots pound and slide in the mud
A boom gate of a cloud
Bumps the sun and I’m off

‘We Gotta Get This Wall Done Boys!’
Flying I am…
Right towards that mixer
Ahhh… That sun!

I’m a lithium molecule
Counseled by gravity and heat…
Not long now…
I can see the…

Brick.
